Filipino Fine Dining?!

I used to go to this pop-up in San Francisco and now they have a full-on restaurant!

Living in the Bay Area, I often found myself steering clear of the super touristy Fisherman’s Wharf, much like how Chicagoans only eat deep-dish pizza when visitors are in town. However, amidst the sea of options, there is one place that has completely won me over – Abaca.

My culinary journey with Abaca began with their roots as the beloved Filipino pop-up by Chef Francis Ang called Pinoy Heritage. Back then, I would make a stop before work for lunch and they now have a refined fine-dining restaurant. Witnessing this growth firsthand is one of the many joys I’ve experienced through my blogging journey.

Recently, I had the pleasure of returning to the Bay Area for a quick weekend visit, and Abaca was a must-visit on my itinerary. Our first encounter was during brunch, and boy, was it an experience! The fusion of traditional Filipino flavors with modern culinary techniques created an explosion of taste and aroma that left me yearning for more.

As much as I relished the brunch, I can’t shake off the excitement of going back to Abaca for dinner. I took a look at their dinner menu and I was sold.

Abaca has undoubtedly captured my heart and taste buds, and it’s now a place I can’t wait to recommend to everyone. The passion and dedication that have propelled Pinoy Heritage’s evolution into Abaca are evident in every dish they serve.

If you find yourself in the Bay Area, do yourself a favor and head over to Abaca. Whether you’re a fan of Filipino cuisine or a curious foodie looking for a memorable dining experience, Abaca is sure to leave an indelible mark on your palate.
