Let’s Have a Literal High Tea

I haven’t done high tea with my friends in such a long time. I experienced it recently and had a great time, but thought, “I think I can do this even better.”

When I was studying graphic design 10 years ago, I worked on a project where I did the branding for a cannabis cafe that had THC-infused tea, coffee, and also edibles like pastries and cakes. I was definitely ahead of my time because this was way before marijuana was legalized in California. Fast forward to now and you can find infused drinks, foods, snacks, sweets, you name it, at any dispensary.

A few months ago, when I was sipping Darjeeling tea and munching on finger sandwiches, I had the idea to have a literal high tea party, but with boba milk tea. I knew I had my annual Galentine’s party to plan and this was the perfect time to do it!

This set up the perfect opportunity to partner with a few brands I love. I knew I had to get my tea from Oakland Tea Co. I first heard of them early in the pandemic when they were selling boba kits that helped you make your favorite drinks at home. They have high-quality tea leaves and I love all of their syrups. Oakland Tea Co. also has unique teas like jasmine rose and pineapple oolong. For the Galentine’s High Tea, I had ten different kinds of tea and nine different kinds of syrup. I also made brown sugar boba using their kit!

To amp up the fun, I partnered with Boba Pops, a brand of popping boba filled with various flavored liqueurs, and is made with a tasteless seaweed extract. It paired great with all the tea and champagne and added a nice burst of sweetness and texture to the drinks.

Thanks to Tossware, who provided upscale disposable glasses that are recyclable, BPA-free, and fully shatterproof. I like having them for parties because they’re cute and give me relief knowing that they won’t break. I have the Reserve 16oz Stemless Wine Color Series, which is now my new favorite because they’re dishwasher-safe!

Of course you can’t have a high tea party without weed! We enjoyed the greenery in various forms, from a cute donut bong, a T-Rex pipe from Puerto Vallarta, a high-tech laser bong, and different joints and wraps. I partnered with King Palm because I love their high-quality palm leaf wraps. Crafted from organic Cordia leaves, these wraps offer a high-quality and eco-conscious alternative to traditional wraps. We had three flavors of their mini rolls to choose from: guava, grape, and apple, all of which offered a fresh and flavorful experience.

Naturally, the food was on point! I surprised myself by putting together a loaded charcuterie board that was accompanied by a vibrant veggie platter and an array of delectable sweets. We also had a pizza box full of amazing sushi rolls from one of my favorite sushi joints, i.8sushi.

This was actually one of the best events I planned and it was literally a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to have a high tea party but didn’t realize I wanted a high tea party. It surpassed all my expectations and I’m thrilled that everyone had a fun time with all the different teas and weed. 🙂
