The Time I Had Massive Chicken Karaage

This story starts with the biggest damn chicken karaage I’ve ever had and ends with a menu lineup of Filipino fusion that had me pleasantly surprised.

Oi Asian Fusion is tucked away in a seemingly nondescript strip mall in East Hollywood and serves creative takes on Filipino and Asian food in bowl form. Though they serve the usual suspects like adobo and fried chicken, both of those, along with the rest of their bowls, offer some extra oomph with nice touches like umami gravy drenching their pork belly or USDA Choice ribeye being the star of the bistek.

Now about that chicken karaage I mentioned earlier. Did I say it was the biggest? Because after some thought, MASSIVE, would be a better description of these crispy, juicy portions of chicken. Can a chicken tender be karaage-fied? Oi Asian Fusion definitely makes this possible.

Another highlight of my meal was a sleeper hit: the Oi Burger. It had me at PRETZEL BUN. But Muenster cheese, truffled balsamic, shiitake mushrooms? I almost ate this thing with my pinkies up!
Look there’s plenty to rave about here at Oi Asian Fusion, so hustle down to any of their four locations in East Hollywood, Canoga Park, Stanton, and San Diego to get a different taste of Filipino and Asian food.
