I think the best farmer’s market in San Diego is the one that takes place in Little Italy in downtown from 8am-2pm. Besides all the music, foodtrucks, produce, and other specialty items you can find, you can also find fresh uni or sea urchin.
It’s caught fresh that morning. So fresh that it’s still moving. So fresh that it’s still moving when they crack it open. Seriously.
Try it at least once! It’s sort of a textured, creamy, thing.. A little salty. It would go great with some brown rice! Which they didn’t have at the booth, but they do have some seasonings and hot sauce to eat it with.
